S. Nijalingappa Medical College & H.S.K. Hospital & Research Centre, established in 2002, is a well-recognized private medical institution in Bagalkot, Karnataka, affiliated with RGUHS and approved by the NMC. The MS Orthopaedics program was commenced in 2011 and has an annual intake of 5 seats, offering dedicated surgical training in orthopaedics. The Department of Orthopaedics provides 24-hour trauma and emergency orthopaedic care, including comprehensive management of polytrauma, spine conditions, pediatric orthopaedic disorders, arthroplasty (joint replacement) surgeries, and arthroscopic procedures. The department is equipped with major operation theatres with orthopaedic tables, C-arm image intensifier, and instruments for trauma, joint replacements, and spine surgeries, ensuring clinical exposure across a broad surgical spectrum. Academic training includes weekly grand rounds, seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, and X-ray discussions, developing strong analytical and operative competencies in residents. Graduates of this program are prepared for independent practice in orthopaedic surgery, trauma centers, and academic roles with a solid foundation in musculoskeletal care.
