MS Obstetric and Gynecology

1. Completed MBBS degree recognized under the NMC Act.
2. Completed or will complete one-year compulsory internship by the specified cut-off date.
3. Valid NEET-PG qualifying score, meeting the required percentile (50th percentile for general category; relaxations for reserved categories as per NMC norms).
4. Permanent or provisional medical registration with the NMC or relevant State Medical Council.

The M.S. in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dr. Moopen’s Medical College, Wayanad is a comprehensive three-year postgraduate surgical residency designed to train gynecologists and obstetricians capable of managing complex women’s health issues. The program is part of the college’s suite of clinical postgraduate offerings, affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Residents rotate through labor and delivery units, antenatal and postnatal wards, gynecologic clinics, and surgical theaters where they gain practical experience in managing normal and high-risk pregnancies, labor interventions, gynecologic surgeries, reproductive endocrinology, fertility services, and emergency obstetric care. The department is equipped with modern labor rooms, cardiotocography, state-of-the-art operation theaters, and facilities for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Academic activities include seminars, case presentations, journal clubs, and supervised clinical research. Faculty mentors guide residents to develop surgical skills, clinical judgment, patient counseling expertise, and evidence-based practice suitable for independent surgical practice.
