  1. MD – General Medicine is a comprehensive postgraduate medical programme designed to develop physicians with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in adult medicine. The course emphasises an in-depth understanding of disease mechanisms, evidence-based diagnosis, and long-term management of acute and chronic illnesses. Residents undergo extensive clinical training in inpatient wards, outpatient departments, intensive care units, and emergency services.
  2. The program includes rotations across subspecialties such as cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and critical care. Academic activities include seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, bedside teaching, and research work culminating in a mandatory dissertation. The training aims to produce competent internists capable of independent clinical decision-making, ethical practice, and leadership in healthcare delivery.
  3. Graduates are well prepared for careers as consultant physicians, academicians, researchers, or for pursuing further super-speciality training such as DM programs.

Eligibility

  1. MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission
  2. Completion of one-year compulsory rotating internship
  3. Permanent or provisional registration with NMC or State Medical Council
  4. Qualifying score in NEET-PG as per the cutoff prescribed for the academic year
  5. Fulfilment of reservation and service bond criteria as applicable under state regulations

  2. Obtain the required qualifying percentile as per NMC regulations
  3. Register for postgraduate medical counselling through the Medical Counselling Committee (All India Quota) or respective State Counselling Authority
  4. Fill choices for MD – General Medicine and preferred medical colleges
  5. Seat allotment based on NEET-PG rank, reservation category, and availability
  6. Report to the allotted medical college for document verification
  7. Complete fee payment and joining formalities within the stipulated timeline
