Overview

The MD in General Medicine at GMC Jammu is a rigorous three-year postgraduate degree that prepares physicians in adult medical care across a spectrum of diseases. The curriculum emphasises advanced clinical training, diagnostics, therapeutic management, inpatient care, outpatient care, critical care and exposure to subspecialties such as cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, neurology and infectious diseases. The programme leverages the affiliated hospital infrastructure of the college, thereby providing trainees with a diverse case-mix including urban and semi-rural medical practice. The relatively low tuition fee and government-run institution status make it accessible to a broad base of candidates. Graduates emerge equipped to practice as specialist physicians, to take up hospital consultant roles, community medicine leadership or pursue further super-specialisation (DM/Fellowships). Over recent years, GMC Jammu has increased its MD seats in General Medicine, reflecting growing capacity and institutional investment in postgraduate medical education.
