Interventional Radiology Independent Residency

The Interventional Radiology Independent Residency at UC Irvine is a 1–2 year advanced training program for physicians who have completed Diagnostic Radiology, offering comprehensive hands-on experience in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures such as vascular and non-vascular interventions, embolization, and catheter-based therapies; the program emphasizes clinical patient care, procedural expertise, and multidisciplinary collaboration, with exposure to complex cases in a high-volume academic setting, along with opportunities in research and academic development, ultimately preparing trainees for independent practice and eligibility for dual certification in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR).
