Fellowship in Pediatric Urology

1. M.D. or D.O. degree from accredited institution
2. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Urology Residency (or equivalent Canadian RCPSC program)
3. Eligible for U.S. medical licensure
4. Participation in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) or applicable fellowship match process (if required)
5. Submission of required application documents (see Admission Process).

The Urology Fellowship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is a two-year, immersive pediatric urology training program intended for physicians who have completed urology residency and seek advanced subspecialty expertise. The first year focuses on broad clinical exposure and surgical experience across inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and operating rooms, involving a high volume of diverse pediatric urologic cases (e.g., general pediatric urology, reconstructive procedures, laparoscopic and robotic surgery). The second year emphasizes academic development, research involvement, mentorship, and career planning tailored to individual goals. Fellows work closely with experienced faculty, participate in multidisciplinary programs (such as spina bifida and bladder function clinics), and develop leadership skills through structured clinical responsibilities. The program is structured to support progression toward independent practice and prepares graduates for careers in academic medicine and high-complexity clinical care.
