Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care

• Must have completed a Johns Hopkins or another approved General Surgery Training Program
• Must hold an MD / DO or equivalent medical degree
• Completion of General Surgery residency training is required before joining the fellowship
• Applicants should be eligible for advanced training in Surgical Critical Care
• Must meet institutional requirements for medical licensure and credentialing
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must fulfill U.S. requirements, including applicable certification and visa requirements
• Successful completion of the fellowship makes candidates eligible for a Certificate of Special Qualification in Surgical Critical Care

The Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is a 1-year ACGME-accredited advanced clinical training program designed for surgeons who have completed General Surgery residency and wish to specialize in the management of critically ill surgical patients. The program provides extensive training in surgical intensive care, trauma, emergency surgery, postoperative critical care, sepsis management, mechanical ventilation, organ failure, and advanced ICU procedures. Fellows gain hands-on experience through rotations in multidisciplinary intensive care units and participate in patient management, teaching, research activities, and academic conferences. The fellowship prepares graduates for leadership roles in surgical critical care, trauma surgery, acute care surgery, and academic medicine.
