Fellowship in Sports Medicine

• Must hold an MD or DO degree (or equivalent medical qualification)
• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in a relevant specialty such as:
• Family Medicine
• Internal Medicine
• Emergency Medicine
• Pediatrics
• Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
• Must be board eligible or board certified in the primary specialty
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Maryland
• Strong academic background with interest in sports medicine, musculoskeletal care, and athlete health
• Prior clinical/research experience in sports medicine is preferred
• International applicants must meet ECFMG certification requirements (if applicable)

The Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a one-year, ACGME-accredited clinical training program designed to provide advanced expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. The fellowship emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, combining orthopaedics, primary care sports medicine, rehabilitation, and athletic performance. Fellows gain hands-on experience in sideline coverage, team physician responsibilities, sports injury management, ultrasound-guided procedures, and non-operative care. Training includes exposure to elite and amateur athletes, along with opportunities for research, teaching, and academic development within a high-volume tertiary care setting like Johns Hopkins Medicine.
