The Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a 12-month fellowship designed to provide advanced training in regional anesthesia techniques and acute postoperative pain management. Fellows gain extensive experience in peripheral nerve and neuraxial blocks and participate in acute pain services across multiple surgical specialties, including orthopaedic, pediatric, trauma, thoracic, vascular, plastic, and general surgery. The program also provides exposure to obstetric and pediatric regional anesthesia, inpatient pain services, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS), clinical research, simulation, and teaching. Academic activities include grand rounds, journal clubs, weekly lectures, ultrasound workshops, mock oral examinations, and problem-based learning.
