The Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine provides three years of specialized training in the diagnosis and management of rheumatic, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases in children and adolescents. Fellows gain extensive clinical experience through outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations, with exposure to conditions such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, myositis, scleroderma, vasculitis, and other pediatric rheumatic disorders. The program also provides training in biologic and other advanced therapies, multidisciplinary patient care, teaching, and research, with protected time during the later fellowship years for clinical, translational, or basic science research and scholarly activities.
