Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
2. Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
3. Passing performance on USMLE/COMLEX licensing exams
4. ECFMG certification (for international graduates, if applicable)
5. Valid medical licensure eligibility in the U.S.
6. Satisfactory letters of recommendation and submitted application materials
7. Invitation to interview by program leadership (program uses SF Match).

The Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is a highly regarded one-year ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship designed to develop pediatric orthopedic surgeons with broad clinical and operative experience. Fellows train under a large and diverse faculty with expertise in complex spine disorders, neuromuscular conditions, skeletal dysplasia, trauma, sports medicine, hip disorders, lower extremity deformities, hand and upper extremity conditions, and bone/soft tissue tumors. The curriculum balances service-based rotations and clinical autonomy, allowing fellows to tailor part of their experience toward areas of interest while maintaining a core surgical focus. Fellows participate in structured didactics, morbidity & mortality conferences, journal clubs, and multidisciplinary subspecialty meetings. Training emphasizes surgical competence, clinical decision-making, research involvement, and teaching skills, preparing graduates for leadership roles in academic and clinical pediatric orthopedics.
