Overview

The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to provide advanced clinical and research training in the diagnosis and management of endocrine disorders affecting infants, children, and adolescents. The program offers comprehensive exposure to pediatric diabetes, obesity and weight management, growth disorders, thyroid disorders, puberty disorders, adrenal disorders, congenital endocrine conditions, and other hormonal diseases. Fellows receive training through inpatient and outpatient services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and affiliated NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County facilities, working with a multidisciplinary team of pediatric endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals. The curriculum includes clinical care, endocrine stimulation testing, research methodology, biostatistics, scholarly projects, journal clubs, board preparation, and teaching activities, preparing graduates for careers in academic pediatric endocrinology and specialized clinical practice.

Eligibility

  1. Must have completed or be in the process of completing three years of training in an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program
  2. Must be American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) board certified or eligible for the ABP certifying examination
  3. Must hold an MD or DO degree (or equivalent medical degree such as MBBS)
  4. Applicants must provide required supporting documents:
  5. Minimum 3 letters of recommendation
  6. Personal statement describing career goals and interest in Pediatric Endocrinology
  7. Medical school transcript
  8. Documentation of pediatric residency training completion or expected completion
  9. USMLE Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 (or equivalent) scores
  10. ECFMG certificate (for international medical graduates, if applicable)

Admission Process:

  1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) under SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program

  3. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship selection committee
  4. Qualified applicants are invited for fellowship interviews
  5. Final selection is completed through the fellowship selection process
