Overview

The Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at UC Irvine School of Medicine (in collaboration with CHOC) is a 3-year, ACGME-accredited program designed to provide advanced training in diagnosing and managing endocrine and metabolic disorders in children and adolescents. The program offers a balanced curriculum combining intensive clinical exposure with structured research training, where the first year focuses primarily on developing clinical expertise in conditions such as diabetes, growth disorders, thyroid and adrenal diseases, while the later years emphasize research, scholarly activity, and academic development. Fellows receive one-on-one mentorship, participate in multidisciplinary care, and gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, managing a diverse pediatric population. The program also promotes evidence-based, patient-centered care, along with opportunities in teaching, quality improvement, and innovation, ultimately preparing graduates for independent careers in academic medicine or specialized pediatric endocrinology practice.
