Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (FPEM)

1. Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent medical degree.
2. Completion of an ACGME-approved Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine residency is required.
3. Applicants must be eligible for a Connecticut medical license.
4. International medical graduates must submit an ECFMG Status Report.
5. Applicants must have completed USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 within the prescribed seven-year period, or provide equivalent examination scores.
6. A J-1 visa is accepted for eligible international applicants; other visa types are not currently accepted.
7. Applicants must register for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
8. At least three letters of recommendation, including a recommendation from the residency program director, are required.

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, is a specialized clinical training program designed to develop expertise in emergency care for infants, children, and young adults. The program offers three years of training for Pediatrics-trained physicians and two years for Emergency Medicine-trained physicians. Clinical training includes pediatric emergency department management, trauma care, resuscitation, pediatric intensive care, neonatology, toxicology, anesthesia, ultrasound, community emergency medicine, and emergency department administration. Yale New Haven Children's Hospital provides Level I pediatric trauma services and tertiary care, with approximately 40,000 annual pediatric emergency visits. Fellows also receive opportunities in research, quality improvement, medical education, simulation, ultrasound, and academic development.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), following the fellowship's current application instructions.
2. Submit an updated CV, personal statement, medical school transcript, Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 scores or equivalent, and current photograph.
3. Arrange at least three letters of recommendation, preferably including one from the residency program director.
4. International medical graduates must submit an ECFMG Status Report.
5. Register for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Match through NRMP.
6. Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews, generally beginning in August, with interviews held from late September through early November.
