The Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine is a 1-year (12-month) advanced training program designed for anesthesiology graduates to gain specialized expertise in the management of maternal and peripartum patients. The program provides extensive clinical exposure to both routine and high-risk obstetric cases, including labor analgesia, cesarean delivery anesthesia, and obstetric emergencies, while working in a multidisciplinary environment with obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, and neonatology teams. Fellows also receive training in advanced techniques such as ultrasound-guided procedures, simulation-based learning, and perioperative care, along with opportunities for research and academic development, preparing them for leadership roles in obstetric anesthesiology and academic practice.
