The Fellowship in Medically Necessary Contact Lenses at UICOM is an advanced one-year optometry fellowship focused on specialized management of patients requiring contact lens intervention for complex corneal and ocular surface conditions. The program provides hands-on clinical training in fitting and managing various specialty lenses, including scleral, hybrid, rigid gas permeable, and customized soft contact lenses. Fellows gain experience in treating conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, ocular surface disease, limbal stem cell deficiency, ocular GVHD, and other complex corneal disorders through multidisciplinary hospital-based care, didactic education, and clinical research opportunities.
