The Medical Retina Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine provides comprehensive subspecialty training in the medical management of retinal diseases within a major academic eye center. Fellows gain extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal disorders, retinal vascular diseases, and inflammatory conditions affecting the posterior segment. The curriculum emphasizes proficiency in advanced imaging modalities, including optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography, as well as expertise in intravitreal pharmacotherapy and laser treatment. Fellows collaborate closely with vitreoretinal surgeons and other ophthalmic subspecialists in delivering multidisciplinary care. Opportunities for research, teaching, and scholarly activity are integrated throughout the fellowship year. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic ophthalmology and specialized retina practice.
