Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology

The Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship Program at UCSF School of Medicine is a one-year advanced clinical fellowship designed to provide specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for complex airway, lung, and pleural diseases. The program is a combined UCSF/Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) fellowship that provides extensive hands-on experience in advanced interventional pulmonology techniques. Fellows receive training in procedures including advanced bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational and robotic bronchoscopy, airway stenting, ablative therapies, pleural procedures, thoracic ultrasound, tunneled pleural catheters, and medical thoracoscopy. The fellowship also emphasizes multidisciplinary patient care, collaboration with thoracic surgery, oncology, lung transplant, and advanced lung disease programs, along with research opportunities and participation in clinical trials. The program prepares graduates to become skilled interventional pulmonologists capable of managing complex pulmonary conditions and leading advanced procedural practices.
