The Head and Neck Pathology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides focused advanced training in the diagnosis of neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the head and neck. Fellows gain experience with more than 4,500 specimens annually, including biopsy and resection specimens from the oral cavity, sinonasal tract, skull base, pharynx, larynx, ear, salivary glands, thyroid, parathyroid, skin, bone, soft tissue, and odontogenic sites. Training includes diagnostic sign-out, gross examination of complex specimens, intraoperative frozen-section consultations, multidisciplinary tumor boards, resident education, and participation in clinical research and scholarly activities.
