Fellowship in Breast Pathology

1. Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
2. Must complete 3 years of Anatomic Pathology (AP) training, or 4 years of combined Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) training.
3. Previous training in Surgical Pathology or Cytopathology is preferred.

The Diagnostic Breast Pathology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced training in the comprehensive diagnosis of breast diseases and malignancies. The fellowship offers extensive experience in screening breast pathology, breast oncology specimens, and complex diagnostic cases, with progressive responsibility in specimen evaluation and sign-out. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary activities such as Breast Imaging–Pathology conferences and weekly Breast Tumor Board discussions, while also gaining exposure to breast imaging, research, teaching, and structured pathology education. The program also provides opportunities to develop expertise in specialized breast pathology and collaborate with other pathology subspecialties.
