Fellowship in Glaucoma

The Glaucoma Fellowship at the UCSF School of Medicine is an advanced subspecialty training program designed to provide in-depth expertise in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of glaucoma and related optic nerve disorders. Fellows train within a high-volume, tertiary care setting and gain exposure to a wide spectrum of conditions, including primary open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma, congenital glaucoma, and complex secondary glaucomas. The program emphasizes hands-on surgical training in procedures such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), along with the use of advanced diagnostic technologies like visual field testing and optic nerve imaging. Fellows also participate in multidisciplinary care, academic teaching, and cutting-edge research, reflecting UCSF’s strong focus on innovation and clinician-scientist development.
