Fellowship in Glaucoma

• Must have completed an accredited Ophthalmology Residency Program
• Must hold a medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent qualification)
• Must obtain an unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Illinois before starting the fellowship
• Candidates should have an interest in advanced glaucoma diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment
• Applicants should demonstrate interest in clinical care, surgical training, research, and academic ophthalmology
• Must fulfill the fellowship eligibility requirements of the University of Illinois College of Medicine and institutional policies

The Glaucoma Fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is a 1-year clinical fellowship program designed to provide advanced training in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of complex glaucoma disorders. The program offers extensive clinical exposure through the University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary, UI Health, and Jesse Brown VA Hospital, where fellows manage a wide range of glaucoma cases under the guidance of experienced glaucoma specialists. Training includes comprehensive glaucoma evaluation, independent patient care, glaucoma surgeries, conventional filtering procedures, and advanced microinvasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). Fellows also participate in surgical simulation training, conferences, teaching activities, and clinical research projects to develop expertise in academic and subspecialty glaucoma practice. The fellowship prepares ophthalmologists to independently manage complex glaucoma patients and pursue careers in clinical care, research, and education.
