Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

1. Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
2. Must have completed three years of Adult Psychiatry residency training in an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved program.
3. Must have passed United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Steps 1, 2, and 3 before the interview.
4. International Medical Graduates must also have completed the required Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) examination/certification requirements before the interview.
5. Both national and international medical graduates are eligible to apply.
6. International Medical Graduates must submit the required Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certificate and Status Report through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
7. The program does not sponsor H-1B visas.

Stanford Medicine Health Care (SHC) is an academic health care system affiliated with Stanford University, providing advanced patient care, medical education, and research. Stanford’s Department of Psychiatry provides specialized clinical training in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions across different age groups. The Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a two-year advanced fellowship designed to provide comprehensive training in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric conditions affecting children and adolescents. Fellows gain experience across inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, pediatric consultation-liaison services, adolescent psychiatry, intensive outpatient care, school consultation, pediatric neurology, and community-based settings. The program also emphasizes research, education, advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing fellows for independent clinical practice and leadership in child and adolescent psychiatry.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Apply through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
3. Submit a complete application by the August 1 deadline.
4. Required documents include the ERAS application, personal statement, curriculum vitae, Program Director Letter of Recommendation, two additional faculty recommendation letters, Medical Student Performance Evaluation, official medical school transcripts, licensing examination scores, and photograph.
5. International Medical Graduates must additionally submit the required Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates documents.
6. The Recruitment Advisory Committee reviews completed applications.
7. Selected applicants receive interview invitations beginning September 1, with interviews conducted during September, October, and November.
8. Final selection is completed through the National Resident Matching Program.
