Fellowship in Cellular Therapy and Transfusion Medicine

The Cellular Therapy and Transfusion Medicine Fellowship at UCSF is an advanced, multidisciplinary training program that integrates clinical transfusion medicine with innovative cellular therapy and translational research. Fellows gain hands-on experience across core areas such as blood banking, apheresis, immunohematology, coagulation, and donor services, along with specialized exposure to stem cell transplantation, immune effector cell therapies (including CAR-T), and cell processing technologies. The program emphasizes both laboratory and clinical practice, including patient blood management, therapeutic procedures, and regulatory aspects of cellular therapy programs. Fellows also participate in multidisciplinary care teams, research projects, and academic teaching, enabling them to develop expertise in modern transfusion services and emerging cell-based therapies, and preparing them for leadership roles in academic medicine, advanced diagnostics, and cellular therapy programs.
