The Transfusion Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program based at The Johns Hopkins Hospital that provides comprehensive training in both the clinical and laboratory aspects of transfusion medicine. The program combines hands-on clinical experience, laboratory management, and academic learning, with structured exposure to areas such as blood banking, immunohematology, therapeutic apheresis, donor center operations, coagulation, and cellular therapy, along with opportunities for research and scholarly activity. Fellows gain experience managing diverse patient populations and complex transfusion scenarios, and successful completion of the program qualifies them to sit for the Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine subspecialty certification exam of the American Board of Pathology.
