Fellowship in Cardiology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Strong academic background, letters of recommendation, and demonstrated interest in cardiology.

The Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a comprehensive three-year super-specialty training program designed to develop highly skilled cardiovascular physicians. The program provides extensive exposure to both inpatient and outpatient cardiology services, including coronary care units, cardiac catheterization laboratories, advanced cardiac imaging, and heart failure clinics. Fellows receive structured training in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology fundamentals, and preventive cardiology. The fellowship emphasizes evidence-based clinical decision-making, procedural competence, academic scholarship, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Training is conducted at major teaching hospitals including OU Medical Center and the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, offering exposure to diverse patient populations. Fellows actively participate in research, quality improvement projects, and academic conferences. Graduates are fully prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Cardiovascular Disease and for careers in academic medicine, tertiary care hospitals, or advanced subspecialty fellowships such as interventional cardiology or electrophysiology.
