The Neuropathology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is an ACGME-accredited program designed to prepare trainees for independent practice as academic or community-based neuropathologists. The fellowship provides comprehensive training in autopsy and surgical neuropathology, including histopathological and molecular diagnostic methods. Fellows gain experience with consultation and referral cases, neurosurgical specimens, forensic autopsy consultations, and ancillary laboratories such as Molecular Diagnostics and Cytogenetics. The program also emphasizes basic neuroscience research, with the second year focused on a comprehensive clinical or neuroscience research project that may lead to a publication, abstract, or conference presentation.
