The Neuropathology Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a two-year ACGME-accredited advanced training program that provides specialized education in the diagnosis of diseases affecting the nervous system. The fellowship includes comprehensive training in surgical neuropathology, autopsy neuropathology, brain tumors, frozen sections, and neuromuscular pathology. The first year focuses primarily on clinical neuropathology, while the second year emphasizes research activities along with opportunities in pediatric neuropathology, forensic neuropathology, and ophthalmic pathology rotations. Fellows gain expertise in advanced diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics, image analysis, and laboratory-based investigations. The program also provides exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, and opportunities for clinical research and academic development.
