Fellows receive salary and benefits according to the applicable UCSF GME compensation structure, with first-year fellows appointed at PGY-5 and second-year fellows at PGY-6.

The Neuropathology Fellowship at UCSF is a two-year accredited fellowship providing comprehensive training in diagnostic and investigative neuropathology. Fellows gain extensive experience in CNS, peripheral nervous system, muscle, ocular, neuromuscular, and autopsy pathology, with more than 3,000 neurosurgical, neuromuscular, autopsy, eye, and consultation cases reviewed annually. Training includes neuro-oncology, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases, infections, pediatric/developmental neuropathology, forensic neuropathology, molecular pathology, immunohistochemistry, and ultrastructural techniques. The program also provides individualized research opportunities in areas such as molecular neuro-oncology, developmental pathology, neurodegeneration, neuromuscular pathology, eye pathology, and basic neurobiology.
