Fellowship Course in Cytopathology

The Cytopathology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota is a one-year ACGME-accredited training program conducted at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Hennepin County Medical Center. The program provides comprehensive training in gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology, fine-needle aspiration (FNA), specimen preparation and triage, rapid on-site evaluation, ancillary testing, and diagnostic interpretation. Fellows also participate in clinical conferences, multidisciplinary consultations, teaching of residents and cytotechnology students, and research or academic projects, with opportunities to present work at national conferences.

1. Complete the University of Minnesota Fellowship Application Form.
2. Submit an updated CV.
3. Submit a letter of intent mentioning the fellowship, relevant experience, interests, and career goals.
4. Submit USMLE/COMLEX test scores and a copy of the medical diploma.
5. Provide 3 letters of recommendation.
6. International medical graduates should also submit their valid ECFMG certificate.
7. The application is reviewed by the program, and selected candidates are invited for an interview.
8. Cytopathology will participate in the NRMP Fellowship Match beginning with July 2028 positions.
