Fellowship Course in Cytopathology

• Hold an MD, DO, MBBS, or an equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Be board-eligible or board-certified in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
• Have passed USMLE Step III.
• Be eligible to obtain a permanent Illinois medical license before the fellowship begins.

The Cytopathology Fellowship is a 1-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship offered by the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago. The program provides advanced training in gynecologic cytology, non-gynecologic cytology, and fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology. Fellows gain hands-on experience in diagnostic cytopathology, FNA procedures, molecular pathology, laboratory management, quality assurance, research, and teaching. The fellowship emphasizes the integration of cytologic findings with histopathology and ancillary testing, preparing graduates for independent practice in academic, hospital, or private laboratory settings.
