The Family Nurse Practitioner track at UTMB prepares registered nurses for advanced practice roles as primary care providers for individuals and families across all age groups. The curriculum integrates advanced clinical education, theoretical coursework, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and supervised clinical practicum experiences. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic health conditions. Graduates are prepared to sit for national certification exams through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and are equipped to provide comprehensive primary care in a variety of healthcare settings.
