The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) specialization at UTMB is part of the MSN advanced practice nursing program designed to prepare nurses for high-acuity clinical roles caring for adult through geriatric populations across acute care environments. The curriculum integrates advanced nursing theory, research, and clinical practice in areas such as advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, diagnostic reasoning, acute and complex care management, informatics, and professional role development. Students engage in a structured sequence of courses and clinical practicums that build advanced competencies for evidence-based acute care practice. Graduates are prepared for national certification and advanced professional practice.
