Overview
The MD in Anaesthesiology at GMC Jammu is a three-year postgraduate programme that offers comprehensive training in anaesthesia and critical care. Trainees gain exposure to peri-operative management, advanced airway techniques, regional and general anaesthesia, intra- and post-operative monitoring, pain management, and ICU care. The college’s association with a government hospital environment ensures that residents work with a diverse patient load, including complex surgical cases and emergency procedures, thus developing strong clinical skills and decision-making ability. With a relatively modest tuition fee (around ₹ 75,000 for the full duration) for a government institution, the programme is accessible and provides a solid foundation for careers in hospital anaesthesia departments, pain clinics, critical care units or further super-specialisation. The recent approval of additional PG seats in the institution reflects growing investment in postgraduate medical training in the region.
