Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Anaesthesiology

Overview

The MD Anaesthesiology program at NSMCH, Patna, is designed to train specialists in anesthesia, perioperative care, critical care medicine, and pain management. Students are taught the principles of anesthesia for general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, pediatrics, and neurosurgery, among others. The program emphasizes clinical training in operation theatres, intensive care units (ICUs), and emergency setups. Students gain hands-on experience in resuscitation, ventilator management, regional anesthesia, and advanced monitoring techniques. Research, seminars, and clinical case presentations are integral to the curriculum. Graduates are prepared to serve as anesthesiologists in hospitals, consultants in surgical and critical care teams, academicians, or pursue super-specializations such as DM in Critical Care or Pain Medicine.

Eligibility

• MBBS degree from an NMC-recognized college/university.
• Completion of 1-year compulsory internship.
• Must hold permanent/provisional registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
• Must have qualified NEET-PG.
