About Course

Basaveshwara Medical College & Hospital (BMCH), established under the SJM Vidyapeetha in Chitradurga, is a private medical institution offering a variety of health-science related undergraduate and postgraduate courses, delivering both academic education and clinical training through its multi-specialty hospital.
The B.Sc. Respiratory Care Technology programme at BMCH is part of its allied health sciences offerings. Through this course, students are expected to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as respiratory physiology, pulmonary diagnostics, mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, critical-care support, and patient management in cardiopulmonary and intensive care settings — leveraging the hospital’s facilities including wards, ICU, ventilator units, and respiratory department.
Given BMCH’s well-equipped hospital and specialty departments (including a dedicated Respiratory Medicine department), students have the opportunity for clinical exposure and hands-on training, which is essential for a career in respiratory therapy and allied health services.
The course aims to prepare graduates to support physicians, manage respiratory emergencies, conduct pulmonary tests, and contribute to patient care in both hospital and possibly outpatient settings — making them valuable professionals in the field of respiratory care and critical-care support.
