Eligibility Criteria

Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) from a recognized board.
Minimum aggregate: 45% (General category) and 40% (SC/ST/OBC category) in qualifying examination.
Minimum age: 17 years at the time of admission.

Minimum Education

The B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangalore, is a full-time undergraduate course that equips students with theoretical and practical expertise in laboratory medicine. Students learn to conduct biochemical, pathological, and microbiological analyses vital for disease diagnosis, treatment, and research.
The curriculum includes intensive coursework in subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Haematology, Immunology, Pathology, Blood Banking, and Clinical Biochemistry. Training takes place both in the classroom and in fully equipped laboratories associated with the college and teaching hospital.
During the final year, students undergo a 1-year clinical internship in hospital laboratories, where they gain hands-on experience in diagnostic testing, instrument handling, specimen processing, and quality control procedures.
Graduates are prepared to work as Laboratory Technologists, Research Assistants, Blood Bank Officers, Pathology Technicians, or pursue advanced education such as M.Sc. in MLT or M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Microbiology.
