Overview

Basaveshwara Medical College & Hospital (BMCH) in Chitradurga is a private medical institution established under the SJM Vidyapeetha trust, with a multi-specialty teaching hospital attached — which provides broad clinical exposure and training opportunities.

The MBBS course at BMCH is structured in phases:

1. Pre-clinical: fundamental subjects like Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology.
2. Para-clinical: subjects such as Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine — giving students a grounding in disease processes, diagnostics, pharmacology, ethics, and public health.
3. Clinical: includes Medicine and allied specialties (Paediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, etc.), Surgery and allied (Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, etc.), Obstetrics & Gynaecology — with clinical postings in hospital wards and OPDs, enabling hands-on experience and practical patient care exposure.

Upon completion, graduates are eligible to register as medical practitioners in India (subject to licensing and screening tests as per NMC regulations), and may pursue postgraduate (MD/MS) or super-specialty courses, or work as general physicians.

Eligibility

1. Pass 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology + English.
2. Secure valid NEET UG score.
3. Minimum age: 17 years by 31 December of the admission year.
4. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), respective reservation & qualifying criteria apply as per NMC / state policies.
