Vitreoretinal Fellowship

The Vitreoretinal Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is an advanced ophthalmology subspecialty training program focused on the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the retina and vitreous. The fellowship provides extensive clinical and surgical experience in managing complex retinal conditions such as retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular disorders, retinal vascular diseases, and other vitreoretinal pathologies. Fellows receive training in advanced retinal imaging, surgical techniques including vitrectomy and retinal repair procedures, and evidence-based management of retinal diseases. The program emphasizes exposure to complex cases, close faculty mentorship, research opportunities, and academic development, preparing fellows for careers in vitreoretinal surgery, specialized retinal care, and academic ophthalmology.
