Vascular Surgery Residency Program

The UMass Chan Vascular Surgery Residency is a five-year integrated "0+5" program where residents enter directly into vascular surgery training from medical school, with two positions matched annually through the NRMP. The curriculum covers diagnosis and treatment of arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases, blending open surgical techniques and minimally invasive endovascular approaches, supported by a high annual case volume of about 4,000 procedures. Training takes place across UMass Memorial's major campuses, with strong emphasis on research and progressive hands-on autonomy, preparing residents for board certification in Vascular Surgery upon completion.

1. Apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service), submitting USMLE/COMLEX scores, letters of recommendation, personal statement, medical school transcript, and Dean's letter (MSPE)
2. Since it's an integrated program participating in the standard Match, apply through the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program)
3. Selected candidates are invited to interview with the Division of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery
4. Both program and applicant submit rank lists; results are announced on NRMP Match Day
5. Upon matching, complete credentialing, license verification, and pre-employment checks (drug test, background check) before the July 1 start date
