The RN Residency Program at Lurie Children’s is an evidence-based practice transition program accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. It is built on a foundation that supportive learning environments foster belonging, skills development, and clinical confidence. The residency includes precepted orientation with unit-specific training, integrated pediatric nursing classes, transition support sessions, clinical exchange rotations for broader exposure to patient care areas, and mentorship in evidence-based practice. Classroom content covers pediatric assessment, emergency management, communication, ethics, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing, and professional development. Residents connect with peers and faculty through regular sessions that help them navigate role transitions and deepen clinical competence in caring for children and families across specialties.
