The Movement Disorders Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a highly specialized one-year training program offered through the Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson's and Movement Disorders. The fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive clinical and research training in Parkinson's disease and related movement disorders. Fellows receive extensive outpatient and inpatient experience at NYU Langone Health, Tisch Hospital, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, caring for patients with a broad spectrum of movement disorders. Training includes advanced expertise in botulinum toxin injection techniques using ultrasound and EMG guidance for conditions such as dystonia, spasticity, hemifacial spasm, and blepharospasm. Fellows also gain significant exposure to neuromodulation therapies, including candidate evaluation for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), as well as postoperative programming and long-term management of implanted devices. The program incorporates weekly video rounds, structured didactic conferences, multidisciplinary case discussions, and hands-on clinical teaching. Fellows are encouraged to participate in clinical, genetic, neuroanatomical, DBS, and translational neuroscience research through the Fresco Institute and affiliated research centers. The institute is recognized internationally for its contributions to Parkinson's disease research and is designated as a Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic neurology, movement disorder specialty centers, research institutions, and advanced clinical practice.
