The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Lurie Children’s is a two-year postgraduate clinical training program designed to prepare physicians for independent practice in child and adolescent mental health. Trainees rotate through structured clinical experiences including inpatient psychiatric units, partial hospitalization programs, outpatient clinics, consultation-liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatric care, and community settings. The program emphasizes a biopsychosocial approach and multidisciplinary collaboration with psychology, social work, neurology, and pediatric medicine. Fellows develop expertise in psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention, and management of complex neuropsychiatric conditions reflective of diverse patient populations. In the second year, fellows tailor their training with electives of interest and have increased autonomy in patient care and leadership roles.
