Medical physicists are health care professionals having specialized training in the safe use ionizing radiation in medicine. Their work includes planning of radiation treatments for cancer patients, ensuring equipment safety and effectiveness, consult with physician colleagues, teach and train medical physicists, residents, medical students and technologists and also involve in research activities.
The Ph.D. course in Radiation Physics offers candidates with an advanced knowledge of applied Radiation Physics in Medical science. Students who are interested in pursuing this course should have the basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Radiological Physics.

Eligibility
Candidates with;
a) M.Sc. in Radiation Physics awarded by RGUHS
b) M.Sc. in Medical Physics awarded by other University considered as equivalent by RGUHS.
c) M.Sc. in Physics + One year Diploma in Radiological Physics are eligible for this course.
All the candidates should have undergone one-year internship after the completion of the course.

The admission is through an entrance test conducted by the university with one stream of admission annually.
