Overview

The Pediatric Residency Program at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children is an accredited postgraduate medical training program that combines robust clinical experience, academic learning, and multidisciplinary care. Residents rotate in core pediatric areas including general pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, emergency medicine, adolescent medicine, and subspecialty clinics. Training occurs primarily at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, with additional clinical exposure at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Philadelphia, PA) and Christiana Hospital (Newark, DE). The curriculum follows an “X+Y” block scheduling model, balancing inpatient and outpatient experiences and continuity clinics. Residents participate in longitudinal learning experiences such as advocacy, education, research, and teaching. The program prepares physicians for board eligibility and future career paths in clinical practice, academic medicine, or pediatric subspecialties.
