Overview
The Pediatric Residency Program at Lurie Children’s and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a prestigious, highly competitive postgraduate clinical training pathway designed to educate and mentor future pediatricians. Residents gain broad exposure to pediatric care across diverse environments, including general inpatient wards, neonatal intensive care, pediatric emergency services, outpatient primary care clinics, subspecialty rotations, and community health settings. The curriculum emphasizes patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, advocacy, and scholarly activity. Through hands-on clinical experiences, structured didactics, simulation training, continuity clinics, and research opportunities, residents build advanced clinical competency, procedural skills, clinical judgment, and professional leadership. A culture of supportive mentorship and educational innovation underpins the program, preparing graduates for board certification in Pediatrics and careers across academic medicine, hospital practice, and community child health.
