The Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, affiliated with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, is a CODA-accredited two-year hospital-based postdoctoral program designed to prepare dentists for speciality practice in pediatric dentistry. Residents receive extensive clinical experience in both outpatient and hospital settings, caring for healthy children as well as infants, adolescents, and medically compromised patients with special healthcare needs. The curriculum integrates comprehensive clinical training with advanced didactic instruction in pediatric dentistry, pediatric medicine, craniofacial anomalies, orthodontic diagnosis, growth and development, behaviour guidance, conscious sedation, and dental treatment under general anaesthesia. Residents actively participate in hospital consultations, interdisciplinary patient care, surgical procedures, and emergency dental management. Completion of an original research project is mandatory, fostering evidence-based clinical practice and scholarly development. Graduates earn a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and are eligible for certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
