Pediatric Dentistry Residency

1. DDS or DMD from accredited institution.
2. Completion of dental school before residency start.
3. Illinois dental licensure or eligibility for temporary license.
4. Submission to the ADEA PASS and participation in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program (Match).
5. Supplemental application materials (e.g., CV, photo, letters) where required.

The Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital is a two-year CODA-accredited specialty training program designed to shape expert pediatric dental clinicians. Residents receive broad experience in preventive and restorative dental care across primary and mixed dentition, behavior guidance techniques, sedation and general anesthesia, management of dental trauma, and care for medically complex children. Training includes rotations in general anesthesia, emergency medicine, pediatric growth and development, craniofacial team clinics, and weekly interdisciplinary collaborations. Didactic components include courses in head and neck anatomy, pediatric growth and development, clinical seminars, and practice management. Residents engage in research, completing a project and presenting findings. The program equips graduates with the knowledge and hands-on clinical skills to practice comprehensive pediatric dentistry competently and confidently upon completion.
