Pathology residency programs

The Pathology Residency Program is a fully accredited four-year training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). Most residents complete the integrated AP/CP pathway, with 27 months of Anatomic Pathology and 19 months of Clinical Pathology. Training includes surgical pathology, gynecologic pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, transfusion medicine, microbiology, chemistry, molecular pathology, cytogenetics, autopsy/neuropathology, pediatric pathology, and dermatopathology. Residents train across Los Angeles General Medical Center, Keck Hospital of USC, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, with opportunities for research and medical student teaching.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
3. Submit the ERAS Common Application Form.
4. Submit a personal statement.
5. Provide an official medical school transcript.
6. Submit the MSPE/Dean’s Letter.
7. Provide a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation.
8. Submit a photograph.
9. Submit the USMLE transcript.
10. IMG applicants must submit an ECFMG status report.
