The Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics at UAB is a 30-month postdoctoral residency that combines didactic education, laboratory training, clinical practice, and research. Residents receive training in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, comprehensive orthodontic treatment, clear aligner therapy, early treatment, multidisciplinary care, orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate treatment, craniofacial syndromes, temporomandibular disorders, orthodontic biomechanics, three-dimensional imaging, and temporary anchorage devices. The program leads to a Certificate in Orthodontics, with an optional Master of Science in Dentistry through completion of an original research thesis.
